Let Us Talk...

Friends, this one is just to have fun. Here is the picture of one of my own paintings and I want to know what comes to your mind on looking at it.For example, this painting reminds me of the serial "Alif-Laila" that was aired on Door Darshan a decade ago.(Actually i was inspired by that only). It also appears to me that the man in the painting is saying the famous dialouge of Shahrukh Khan " Ek mard ka sir sirf teen auraton ke saamne jhukta hai, 1). Devi maa ke saamne 2).apni Maa ke saamne n 3). apni Beloved ke saamne".. hehhehe...
So what are you thinking now??? Share your thoughts and get started...GOOD LUCK..

Counting One to Five is Tough

I don’t understand how can someone ‘LEARN’ dancing...

Dance comes from within. There is no one who can not dance…Its just that he/she is shy; or even if one overcomes ones’ shyness and dances, we don’t like the actions. But this does not mean that he/she can not dance .I think everybody has all sets of emotions hidden within oneself.…Happiness, love, anger, hatred, etc can all be expressed through dance…for me “Dancing is expressing without speaking”.

How can one learn a step by counting 1..2..3..4…and 5….sounds like exercising…….And without music it would mean ‘by hearting’ the step ..Moreover ,if by chance the music plays a little faster than the normal then the dancer would appear missing the beats as he would be following and counting 1.2.3..4.and ..5. in his mind while the beats would have gone skipped….

When I used to choreograph songs it always came out spontaneously with the lyrics…like… “main teri ho…on ‘ho’.. you have to turn your head towards right girls…come on …with the beats….Then on ‘ gayi’… you have to lift your left leg up……Then repeat on ‘ yaar..sajna ve sajna’….” I used to sing the music of the song and give various sound effects like tan tan taii taii tana dana dhishh dhishh traa traa for the rehearsals. And my team never followed what I wanted to teach them….they all ,I’m sure , must have laughed in my absence.

Although for my friends learning 1..2..3..4..and. 5 was much simpler..I insisted on doing with the lyrics and music…At that time I thought that my friends were strange and I was normal…

Time passed and dance was kind of out of my life. Until recently I watched Saroj Khan Ji teaching dance on a TV programme. To my surprise I found her following the trend of counting 1...2..3..4..and 5. .and her dancers doing the same…. That question has again popped up in my mind… “ How can one learn a step by counting 1..2..3..4…and 5…and not by doing with the lyrics?”
